Full Biography
Born Austin Santos in 1986, Arcángel moved from New York City to his family's native Puerto Rico as a young boy when his mother transported the family to the island to pursue her own musical career as a singer for the merengue group Las Chicas Del Can. In Puerto Rico, the young Arcángel dreamed of being a Latin music star and began exploring a variety of different musical and lyrical styles. In 2004, Arcángel joined forces with fellow musician De la Ghetto (born Rafael Castillo in 1982) to create a reggaeton duo. Together Arcángel y De la Ghetto released the hit single "Pegate" on the popular Hector El Father-hosted mixtape album Sangre Nueva (2005) and appeared on various reggaeton albums, including Luny Tunes' Mas Flow: Los Benjamins (2006). In 2006, Arcángel decided to focus on his own solo career.
In 2007 Arcángel began work on his solo album El Fenomeno. With sold-out tours in Puerto Rico as well as successful tours throughout South America, Arcángel is set to make a name for himself in urban music and the reggaeton music genre.
