Full Biography

Puerto Rican electro fusion band Da'Zoo formed when Charly Rodríguez (aka Charly Zoo) joined forces with Freddie Lugo (Yo-Fred) after the two of them attended university together. Charly Zoo had previously been a member of the band Macro, and participated in the American Idol-like Puerto Rican competition show Objetivo Fama, which led to the release of a solo album. While in school, Yo-Fred, who had been involved with several rock groups, including Si Señor, joined Charly Zoo as bass player in a new project. They soon recruited Raul Quezada (Raggi), a versatile musician who played piano and guitar, studied sound engineering, and had matching experience playing local gigs. The newly formed band was soon complete with the addition of female vocalist Elizabeth Fuentes (Eli-Joe). The name Da'Zoo came about in the studio when the band joked that while recording in the studio they became like animals locked in a zoo.

Da'Zoo's sound is a fusion of electronic music with pop and reggae. The unique sound comes from a fusion of musical interests that originate from the very distinct personalities of the four members. The band has started to make a name for themselves with the overnight success of the animated video for their song "Chitu," which features gibberish Spanish lyrics. Their self-titled debut album is set to release in June 2009 with an assortment of unique and bombastic dance songs. The album was entirely produced by the band at the renowned Playbach Studio in Puerto Rico, where stars like Calle 13, Olga Tanón, and Daddy Yankee have also recorded. The album was mixed by Mario de Jesus (Marioso), who has worked with artists like Wisin & Yandel, among others. The mastering was done by Tom Coyne, a producer famous for his work with stars like Britney Spears and Beyoncé.
