Full Biography
Don Tetto came together as a band in March 2003 in Bogotá, Colombia, to compete in a battle-of-the-bands competition called CPS (Colegios Por Bogota) which was sponsored and promoted by Radioactiva, a national youth radio station. In the competition, Don Tetto competed against over 300 different new bands, classifying as one of the top 12. After a live concert in front of more than one thousand people from different schools in Bogotá, Don Tetto was unanimously pronounced the winner.
In August 2003, Don Tetto's first radio single, "Pienso" was released on Radioactiva in Colombia. Inspired by their various influences, especially on today's alternative rock scene, Don Tetto began composing new songs that would solidify their musical identity and bring them some international attention. In March 2004, Don Tetto launched their next single, "Yo Estaré Bien," which was an instant success in the Colombian rock scene. This single became the #1 rock song on the Radioactiva, and remained near the top of every countdown for six consecutive months. In November 2004, after concerts throughout Bogotá and other cities in Colombia, Don Tetto released yet another single, "Soledad," which they felt truly defined the identity of the band. This song rose to the top of the charts, and was number one for more than six consecutive weeks on Radioactiva.
By the end of 2005, after various concerts in their home city of Bogotá, Don Tetto were asked to participate in the "Rock Al Parque" festival, a free outdoor festival and the largest of its kind in Latin America, with over 60,000 people in attendance. This performance garnered the band great media attention, and the band now felt ready to embark on their first studio album. They began the recording process at Artico Records Studio in February of 2007 under the supervision of recognized Colombian rock producer, Jorge Holguin. The album was mixed and mastered in Miami by Boris Milan and Mike Couzzic respectively who contributed their musical knowledge to the 14 songs that make part of their first work Lo Que No Sabias.
During the recording process, not only were the relationships between the band members strengthened, but they also managed to get the attention of independent music label, Cabeza de Raton Music Entertainment. The album Lo Que No Sabias was officially released on August 10, 2007, immediately breaking the monthly sales record and positioning itself as the 4th top-selling album on a release date by Tower Records Colombia. That same year Don Tetto was nominated for the Subterranica rock awards in Colombia, in the categories "Best New Artist," "Best Drummer," and "Best New School Artist," winning in two categories: "Best New Artist" and "Best Drummer." They were received the SHOCK music award for "Best New School Artists."
With their latest single, "Ha Vuelto a Suceder," Don Tetto is set to conquer the international rock scene and broaden their musical scope, reaching new audiences with their music video and a national tour in 2008.
